Our Challange

The Agile Delivery Manager is a senior role with overall responsibility for the software delivery processes that take components from suppliers and in-house development teams through to a complete packaged deployment to production.

That requires a deep understanding of software development process, including a strong focus on agile and lean methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and Lean Startup principles.

Working with the Engineering Manager, Test Lead, Lead Architect and Service Lifecycle Managers you will provide delivery oversight and look for ways to eliminate waste and improve time to market.

The role demands energy, tenacity, and stamina to identify and see through constant improvement, while being sensitive to the impact on the team.

What we need from you

You will have significant experience of software delivery and driving process improvement in similar roles within a fast moving online business.

As a people person influencing and gaining consensus will come naturally to you, and you will be used to working with varied contributors from the deeply technical to senior business leadership. You'll understand how to get support for continual process refinements, and how to empower teams to drive change from within rather than purely top-down. You will be equally adept at managing third parties and their deliverables.

This is a key role within the International tribe's technology leadership team, and therefore you will work with the Director and his other direct reports on day to day management, continual improvement, and making it a great place to work!

Key responsibilities:

  • Line management of a small number of agile practitioners, including Scrum Masters/Agile Coaches
  • Coach the International Technology leadership team, Scrum Masters, Engineers, Product Owners, Analysts, and wider business team on great agile software development practices
  • Driving a realistic, data-driven and risk-aware approach to continual process improvement and waste reduction
  • Progress reporting and forecasting, supported by tooling evolution to improve accuracy and reduce reporting overheads
  • Management of dependencies across multiple delivery teams in the lead up to production deployments
  • Advising on resource management, team structure, and tooling improvements
  • Stakeholder management across internal and external teams
  • Management of vendor contracts, legal & compliancy requirements which cross multiple teams effecting deliverables and/or require affirmative action
  • Management of 3rd party software providers to ensure they deliver appropriate levels of quality in a cost-effective, TTM-focussed way.
  • Promote an agile 'one team' culture across suppliers, business, and technology teams that will aid efficiency in delivery.
