Oracle’s Secure Desktop team designs, develops and sustains a scalable, distributed product that provides secure remote access to applications and desktops. We are now hiring four high-calibre Graduate Software Engineers as we expand to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by the Cloud.

About the Graduate or Entry level Software Engineer – Secure Global Desktop team (Graduate, Engineer) role:

The role is for a full-stack product developer and offers unparalleled opportunities to develop skills over a broad range of technologies, from low-level programming to system integration, and on a wide variety of platforms and operating systems. The software you will be working on is used by major global enterprises and there is a strong emphasis on quality. This is a great opportunity to learn new skills and to work within a really talented, global engineering community.

Working under the guidance of senior developers, you will implement and test new product features in many different languages. Using Agile techniques, you will regularly deliver incremental enhancements to the product to both on-premise and Cloud customers. The work is very varied, ranging from services running on highly-scalable virtualized servers to desktops and mobile devices, and you will receive a thorough grounding in many languages and aspects of software development. This is a core software development position and you will be expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of the fundamentals of computer systems, programming and building software. As your interests and experience grow, you will contribute to software design and have the opportunity to specialize.

Requirements - Graduate or Entry level Software Engineer – Secure Global Desktop team (Graduate, Engineer):

Candidates should have or expect to obtain:

A good honours degree in Computer Science or in another numerate discipline with a strong computing component.

Candidates should also have:

• An interest in object oriented design and programming
• A desire to increase your knowledge of C/C++, Java, JavaScript, Python and web technologies
• A consistent and methodical approach to solving problems
• Good verbal and written communication skills, in English
• Flexibility, enthusiasm, drive and self-motivation
• Attention to detail
• The desire and ability to learn quickly
• The confidence to work independently and be comfortable working in a team

Knowledge of and interest in the following would be advantageous:

• Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum and test-driven development
• 2 or more of C/C++, Java, JavaScript, Python
• Writing code for Linux, macOS and Windows operating systems
• TCP/IP and HTTP networking protocols
• Web-based services, like RESTful APIs
• Cloud and container technologies, like AWS, Azure, Docker
• Development tools like Netbeans, Visual Studio, VirtualBox, JIRA, Confluence
