Head of IT (full time), based London SE1 7JW
Salary: £47,000 gross per annum + benefits
The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is the UK’s leading charity for youth development and lifelong learning, founded in 1756. We run the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), the Royal Navy’s cadet force, with some 14,000 Sea Cadets - aged between 10 and 18 - and 9,000 volunteers in nearly 400 Sea Cadet units across the United Kingdom. Through nautical adventure and fun we inspire young people to learn and develop new skills that give them a head start in life.
The Marine Society offers educational opportunities and financial support for career development to professional seafarers. Our seafarers’ libraries provide hardback and paperback library services to ships and maritime installations around the world, and we also run a highly regarded specialist on-line maritime bookshop
We now need an experienced IT professional to take on the role of Head of IT for the Marine Society & Sea Cadets. The charity operates a Windows infrastructure environment, running Windows 10 on thin client virtual desktops, Office365, Citrix XenDesktop and an MPLS Network over 16 sites across the UK, running on externally hosted VMWare servers. Telephony is VOIP using Avaya IP office.
This is an exciting and interesting post, with overall responsibility for the leadership, management and security of IT for the charity, providing high quality support to some 200 employees, and reporting directly to the Director of Finance, IT & Trading. The role offers considerable scope for the successful applicant to develop and further both the role and their own professional skills.
