A leading UK FTSE 100 provider of IT solutions and services are looking to hire a talented Network Project Engineer / Lead Deployment Engineer (Cisco, Firewall, WAN, MPLS), responsible for implementing network solutions and changes in support of Project and Client Management requirements, supporting all elements of the internal network and its external client base.

The Network Project Engineer / Lead Deployment Engineer (Cisco, Firewall, WAN, MPLS) is required to collaborate with Network Technical Design Authorities, Project/Programme Managers, and clients to implement solutions based on approved designs to the required timescales. The Network Engineer / Lead Deployment Engineer (Cisco, Firewall, WAN, MPLS) will be capable of implementing Network solutions in an efficient and effective manner with the emphasis being on service excellence and right first time delivery. In addition, the Network Engineer / Lead Deployment Engineer (Cisco, Firewall, WAN, MPLS) will assist with any necessary follow up troubleshooting to resolve issues and updating documentation as required.

Ideally, the Network Project Engineer / Lead Deployment Engineer (Cisco, Firewall, WAN, MPLS) will have a demonstrable background in the implementation of large-scale Network Architecture projects, an understanding of how network technologies impact on and are impacted by other IT infrastructure technologies, and should be used to working within a controlled Change Management environment.

Responsibilities for the Network Project Engineer / Lead Deployment Engineer (Cisco, Firewall, WAN, MPLS):

  • Be able to accurately interpret network designs, to plan and implement project roll outs using the appropriate Change Management process
  • Be able to work to defined standards, often against challenging timescales
  • Be able to work to defined standards and practices
  • Actively contribute to continual service delivery improvement
  • Be able to work with the minimum of supervision to exacting timescales
  • Assist with troubleshooting as required

Essential Experience/Skills for the Network Project Engineer / Lead Deployment Engineer (Cisco, Firewall, WAN, MPLS):

  • Key technical skills include:
    o Routing & Switching (Cisco)
    o Firewall Solutions (Checkpoint, Palo Alto, and/or Cisco with some Juniper)
    o Load Balancing (F5)
  • Demonstrable senior experience, and will likely be working towards achieving a CCIE or similar accreditation
  • Hold current Security Clearance (SC) vetting or be able to achieve SC vetting as part of their probation period

Desired Experience/Skills for the Network Project Engineer / Lead Deployment Engineer (Cisco, Firewall, WAN, MPLS):

  • Further Education qualifications or equivalent experience (HND/HNC etc.)
  • WAN (MPLS & CPE)
  • Campus LAN & Security solutions. Datacentre/Nexus skills would be beneficial.
  • Any exposure to Cisco or Aruba Wireless solutions, or VoIP (Avaya CM, Cisco UC, Lync & Lync Enterprise Voice) would also be of benefit
