Lend your expertise in highways, civil and/or structural engineering, to help deliver complex projects to improve our City's public environment and open spaces.

We anticipate investment in plenty of areas in the years ahead - for new and upgraded highway infrastructure, sustainable transport solutions, improvements to manage air quality and reduce the risk of flooding and to improve citizens' safety, health and wellbeing.

As a Senior Technician you'll carry out a range of surveys, inspections and investigations, and use CAD and IT techniques to complete designs, calculations, specifications, plans and drawings. We'll expect you to take care of the financial and contract management of your projects. This will involves close liaison with clients, contractors and the public, and the provision of guidance to colleagues. Along the way, you'll take care to ensure you remain up-to-date with all the latest operational issues, design guidance, developments and legislation.

To join us, you'll need to be an Incorporated Engineer of the Institution of Civil Engineers, or a highly experienced civil engineer with a relevant BTEC Higher or BEng/BSc qualification, or have an equivalent level of knowledge, experience and qualifications. You will certainly have experience of the design of complex engineering projects. We expect you to demonstrate a proven ability to prepare and use estimates, bill of quantities, specifications and methods of measurement. Experience of preparing contract documents and supervising contracts on site is also essential.
