System Administrator

With over 36 years in the industry, CGI Space is a rapidly growing business with exciting projects and prospects across the Navigation, Earth Observation, Satcoms and Spacecraft Operations domains. We currently have around 500 members working on projects in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands. Our Space business is looking for an IT System Administrator to join a team of professionals working on a large European Navigation programme. Our System Administrators typically work in teams alongside developers, designers and testers providing essential support to teams who are working on some of Europe's most exciting IT projects.

Candidates should be capable of quickly picking up new concepts as the system is large and complicated, working to high standards of quality, and to agreed timescales as part of a team.

Your tasks will involve:

  • Providing IT support to a number of projects, investigating and resolving issues reported by users. Maintain the programme infrastructure to a high standard
  • Defining, delivering and supporting programme specific IT projects and solutions.
  • Assisting in maintaining system documentation.

You will report into the IT Manager. This is a fast paced programme and as such its needs are complex and varied so good knowledge of networks and systems along with a hands-on approach are required. Your technical skills will be balanced with your ability to priorities and manage the workloads on your team. Essential Skills:

  • Microsoft Server Support/System Administration experience
  • Firewall/ Networking experience
  • 2nd/3rd line support experience
  • Fault finding experience
  • Documentation of work as its undertaken and reporting back to the IT Manager
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage workloads as part of a team or individually.

This role will then be based full time in Leatherhead, but some travel to other European sites will be required.

Starting salaries depend on the current level of expertise and experience. Our roles require Security Clearance to SC Level or a European Eqivalent, so you must have lived and worked in the EU for the past 5 years, and be willing to obtain this level of clearance if you do not already have it.
