As one of our Technical Leads, you’ll play a key role in making this happen by shaping and managing change across FCO Services and government, and by designing services that underpin a wide range of technology solutions. From secure infrastructure and cloud technologies to cyber security and technical support.
Deliver digital systems at the cutting edge
Your main aim will be to ensure we deliver digital systems that meet user needs and that are simple, resilient and easy to use. This will mean leading on technical programmes and providing advice and assurance to a wide range of internal and external contacts including customers, system analysts, UI developers, project managers, technical leads and testers.
Key elements of your role will include translating customer journeys into end-to-end service design and authoring the technical approach to build, test and run live services. You’ll also need to rapidly produce prototypes to refine and tune service delivery.
At the same time, your ability to see the bigger picture and deliver at pace will help ensure we continue to improve our services, meeting our customers’ needs, achieving our commercial aims and providing value for money for the UK tax payer.
Use your technical knowledge to drive change
With significant relevant experience, including experience of leading technical teams, delivering user-focused services and working on application architecture, you will be someone who can challenge current thinking to develop and improve the services we deliver. You will also be confident working with commercial teams to look at opportunities for new or further investment.
Your technical knowledge should cover open source technologies, testing, integration and at least one programming language. Plus you will need delivery experience in at least one of the following areas: virtualisation; mobile working; big data; or cloud. It’s also very important that you are familiar with agile delivery methods and are used to working in a DevOps environment.
