Who are we
At onefinestay we're hospitality pioneers. We've designed a new way to experience a city, staying in the finest private homes. We have an ambition - to bring our new category of accommodation to the world, creating a new era of hospitality. And we're looking for the sharpest engineers to build it with us.
What we do
We offer homeowners a way to earn additional income from guests while they're away, handling everything from marketing to managing their home. Our guests get exclusive access to the best homes in the greatest cities, and an unprecedented level of service before, during and after their stay with us.
We're the only company that personally visits and vets every home we list, looking for space, character and comfort, and our Travel Advisors can help our future guests choose a home that suits. We have a local team in each city where we operate. We prepare homes to our exacting standards, bringing in our own pristine sheets, and stocking bathrooms with fresh towels and toiletries. We give guests a onefinestay iPhone with free local calls and data, and packed with area tips, so they can easily plug into the neighbourhood. When guests arrive we're at the home to give them a warm welcome - and then we're available 24/7.
Far more than a marketplace or booking-platform, we've built a logistically complex, technology-enabled business that connects people and services with private homes. The majority of our tech goes towards supporting operations and services which are the core of the homeowner and guest experience.
Many separate specialised staffing functions are supported through web and mobile interfaces to enable us to deliver a consistent experience for thousands of discerning guests and homeowners. This set of operations tools then have to interact seamlessly with the commercial systems that facilitate booking, payment, sales, and other corporate functions. And all must be presented with the gloss, finish and design excellence of a high-end brand.
For example, when guests are browsing our Reservations team can answer their questions using a back-end graph database where we have a greater depth of info per home at our fingertips. The same graph database powers our provisioning tools when we're preparing for guest's arrival - when our Housekeeping team arrives at a home they follow a task checklist on our staff app, preparing the home room-by-room to standard and bespoke instructions.
A bit more detail on the specifics:
- We are agile: we follow scrum and we are constantly optimising the process.
- We're developing a scalable microservices-based platform to support our aggressive growth plans (see more below)
- Our engineers get the opportunity to work both on existing systems as well as greenfield projects.
- We've open-sourced many of our cool software products, including Nameko (a microservices Python framework) and Gonzo (a sub-system that facilitates management of a large AWS estate of servers).

Why you should join
In early 2016 we did a $250m deal with Accor, Europe's biggest hotel operator. Accor CEO Sebastien Bazin said ''onefinestay has successfully captured a sweet spot: a combination of needs that neither traditional hotels nor new actors of the sharing economy can meet.'' Joining the Accor family as an independent brand is the start of an exciting chapter for us as we set out to expand to 40 world cities by 2020.
As pioneers of a new category of accommodation, our Engineering team has to find solutions to problems that haven't been solved before. Under the leadership of Sathya Smith (an 11-year Google veteran) and Sebastian Prioris (who brings a decade of ecommerce experience), the team is in the process of doubling in size as we create world-class technology culture to match our ambitions.
