Business Analyst

The Business Analyst is responsible for capturing business needs, translating those needs into requirements and ensuring these requirements are addressed by ICT services and solutions.
As such, the Business Analyst is a subject-matter expert with in-depth knowledge of business activities and processes, as well as solution scopes. He or she helps clients to find better ways of doing things by looking at changes required within the organisation, guides and leads the organisation through the unknown, and anticipates and understands changes and their impact on the organisation.


Business analysis
• Engaging with clients to understand and define their requirements, by organising brainstorming sessions, interviews, workshops and other requirement-gathering techniques;
• Developing detailed functional requirements, non-functional requirements, business rules and use case documentation;
• Managing traceability matrices that allow all requirements to be traced from the business demand through to testing;
• Understanding and modelling business processes using business process modelling, and proactively suggesting process improvements through business process analysis;
• Ensuring change requests are identified, documented and included in the project management process;
• Producing and reviewing solution design documentation.

Subject-matter expertise (product ownership)
• Working directly with a Business Service Manager and the business to provide expertise and support in the definition of new business demands for high-level and detailed requirements;
• Defining and documenting UEFA’s business processes;
• Acting as the owner of a product or set of solutions throughout its lifecycle;
• Assessing risks associated with implementation and contributing to change management;
• Over time, specialising in specific UEFA business areas and becoming an expert in the related business processes;
• Proposing alternatives and influencing decisions on business solutions.

Practice leadership
• Finalising UEFA’s ICT business analyst guidelines, procedures and tools applied by the business analyst team in their daily work;
• Sharing best practices and processes that optimise the business analyst team’s work and their level of involvement.

• Documenting acceptance criteria and test cases;
• Executing functional tests and defect management, liaising with development teams and suppliers;
• Facilitating business acceptance and solution validation through user acceptance testing.

• Training the trainers or the users themselves;
• Producing and reviewing training material (such as operating manuals);
• Supporting the operations teams to ensure knowledge transfer is correctly handled;
• Managing projects, as required.


Experience required
• more than 7 years in an ICT services environment
• more than 7 years as a business analyst

• Bachelor's in economics, maths, computer science, business or another relevant field
• Technical degree or specialisation in computer science
• Qualification in data modelling or business process management would be an asset

• English / Proficient

Additional requirements
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills for interaction with internal clients, ICT colleagues and third-party suppliers
• Ability to translate business demands into functional and non-functional requirements
• Experience with ARIS and other data-modelling tools
• Subject-matter expertise in one or more business areas, with associated analytical skills
• Experience working with different cultures
• A positive attitude
• Ability to multitask in a busy, high-stress environment
• Previous experience with collaboration and communication tools, document sharing and workflow engines
