This role will sit in the T&C business unit (Technology and Commercial) as part of the new organisation structure from 2018. The Technology & Commercial (T&C) business brings together our UK and US Commercial customers that are currently serviced across our three business divisions. T&C brings together a wide range of offerings including Cloud Security, Managed Security Services and Consulting & Delivery Services (eg Data, Cyber, S&I).

The role of the Managed Services Operations Manager is to support the day-to-day aspects of the Managed Services product lines and business, with core responsibilities including time and cost management, business process improvement, operational assurance and risk management.

• Responsible for tailoring, implementing and evolving the business operational processes and policies to meet the business needs of our Managed Services product lines and businesses (e.g. MSS, eMSS, Cloud)

• Responsible for driving consistency in operational processes across the Managed Services product lines and businesses

• Work alongside Head of Product & Solution and Product Managers to define strategy and turn into executable business and financial plans

• Support Finance to complete integration of business systems across all product lines

• Play a key role in improving the order to cash process implementation for the managed services product lines

• Support Head of Sale(s) to introduce standard pipeline and forecasting methodology to drive consistency and predictability

• Work with Head of Business Operations & Programmes to ensure effective business reporting to support business efficiency and growth

• Ensure alignment with the Capability function through demand and skill requirement

• Support the Head of Business Operations & Programmes and Leadership with forecasting, working closely with finance

• Close working with Head of Managed Services, Head of Networks and Finance to ensure close management of investments, cost recovery and CAPEX/OPEX

• Support the business planning process

• Work with Head of Business Operations & Programmes and Head of Managed Services to identify risks and opportunities, to maximise business and financial performance of the MS business

• Responsible for collaborating closely with the Capabilities group in regards to resource management ensuring effective liaison between the resource management, delivery and Practice / Function

• OpEx controller: review and manage costs against central / overhead / investment budgets as required

• Accountability for business process management ensuring that local processes are efficient, effective, well-understood, properly documented and adhered to

• Responsible for ensuring that the relevant area of the business adheres to the BAE Systems Operational Framework. Provide support to the local Divisional Management to complete the 6-monthly Operational Assurance Statement as required

• Take responsibility for Business Continuity Planning within the business area and work within the appropriate forums to ensure that the wider BCP needs of the business are met

People Management Responsibility

The Managed Services Operations Manager manages a small team of Managed Services Project Office. In addition to formal line management responsibility, they will utilise many employees within the Capabilities division to achieve the financial targets and client deliverables for their area.

As part of their management responsibilities, they will:
  • Ensure all direct reports and their teams are career managed through the organisation, including performance reviews, timely setting of objectives and managing poor performance
  • Manage succession planning for all direct reports and ensure it takes place in their teams
  • Promote inclusion and diversity within the organisation acting as a champion and a role model
